Bike-Packing Camping Gear

This particular setup allowed me traverse across America by bicycle, comfortable. A special thanks goes out to my friends over at Kelty. Their camping gear is durable, affordable, and built to last. This setup is contrary to most - I didn’t follow the every ounce counts philosophy. I went straight comfort and durability, which meant sacrificing the ultra-light mentality. Again, each setup is designed for your unique preference and this was mine!

Kelty Late Start 1

Super easy setting up this single person tent. Inside, the tent has so many secret pockets that are perfect for my phone & Kindle storage as well as a hook at the top that is ideal for hanging my solar power clip light. There’s enough space to place all my bike bags inside on the not so nice weather nights without feeling too cramped.

Cosmic 20 Sleeping Bag

This sleeping bag was perfect to traverse the states with. The 20 degree bag was a good option during the colder, alpine spots in the high desert of Colorado or Montana when temperatures were dipping in the 40’s / 30’s at night. The bag packed up tightly and fit in my dry bag, which I placed horizontally across the rear rack.

Galactic Sleeping Pad

Basically, a portable sleep mattress. I absolutely loved this sleep system. Unlike traditional back-packing, you had to inflate it yourself. After 2-3 minutes, you had a comfortable 2inch thick mattress that lasted the entire night. I genuinely didn’t think a sleep mattress could be so comfortable.

Rumpl Camp Towel

The only towel you need. I had one during the entire trip, extremely fast drying and multi-functional. This towel dubbed as a blanket on hot nights when I didn’t want to cocoon into my sleeping bag to shower or lake towel.

BioLite Camp Stove

I used this stove for the first week. Powered by wood and fire-starter pellets, is a great alternative to gas as you can find the materials around your campsite. I opted out of a stove for the remainder of the trip as I didn’t need to hot meals and saved on the weight here. The stove also generates electricity and can get a little charge for your phone or small electronics while it burns.
